Welcome to my practice in which we have an accredited Dialectical Behavior Therapy Program. I am Valencia Agnew, Ph.D. and I’ve been serving the Grand Rapids community as a counselor for over 18 years and recently was selected as Winner of the 2017 Grand Rapids Business Journal’s Top Women Owned Businesses Award. In addition, I have been appointed by the Governor to sit on the Michigan Licensing Board of Psychology. My work is based upon a lifelong belief in the unique potential within each and every person I meet to live life versus just exist, and it is this belief that drives me to help those in need. I have a true passion for helping others, which has led me to develop a diverse set of skills, training, and credentials to help adolescents, adults, families, and couples make powerful, positive changes in their lives.
I’m an expert in the areas of borderline personality, self-injury, and trauma, as well as adolescent, family, and couples therapy. I’m also known as a therapist who offers hope to many of the more difficult cases in the Grand Rapids area, and I’ve been recognized by the school, legal and healthcare communities as a leading provider of group and counseling services.
My treatment approach is based on using counseling interventions that are proven to produce results. Your work with me will help you identify and utilize your strengths as well as explore how your thinking patterns and behaviors can be roadblocks in reaching your desired goals. Call me today at 616-719-0194 to schedule or schedule online, and let’s discuss how we can help you make life-enhancing and enduring changes in your life!
